Another Microsoft source says Windows 9 will be a free upgrade

The general consensus about Windows 9 pricing has been that because it’s Microsoft trying to get away from Windows 8, the pricing would be free or as close to free as possible.

Well today a little more confirmation of that rumor.

The information allegedly came from Andreas Diantoro, who is the president of Microsoft Indonesia.

Mr. Diantoro said that for users upgrading from Windows 8 to Windows 9, the upgrade will be free. The comment is said to have been made at a meeting that took place on the 25th of September at the Hotel Mulia, Jakarta.

There was no mention about users on Windows Vista or Windows 7 and how they would get Windows 9.

Stay tuned for a lot more..

Windows 9 is shaping up nicely, the problem is I’m not sure it has anything I actually “need”, therefore it had better be cheap for me to upgrade from 7.

Very true there Duck. It looks good so far but we have not seen a reason to upgrade from 7 yet other than of course that MS will not support us after a few years. By that time 10 or even 11 will be out. So MS needs to give us a good reason to upgrade.

Well there may some nice security improvements. 8 already had some big improvements over 7.

Don’t know why you’d want to get away from 8 more than any other version. 8.x was the best one they’ve had yet.
