Windows 10 Features: Start Menu

Okay, time for a quick rundown of what we know about a few of the Windows 10 features. First up, the obvious, the returning, the Start Menu.

Everyone that knows anything about Windows 10 (previously known as Windows 9) knows that this version of the operating system brings back the Start Menu. And it does so with quite a lot of improvements.

Gone is the concept that Microsoft presented earlier this year at BUILD.

Say hello to the new Start Menu in Windows 10:

Windows 10 Features: Start Menu

Or at least, the way it looks right now, during this stage of development. As you can see, it comes with the same modern look and feel, though slightly refreshed. But the important thing is that the Start Menu in Windows 10 is familiar.

Familiar to the classic one in earlier versions of Windows, and similar to the Start Menu that was introduced in the revolutionary Windows 8.

The Live Tiles are there, and they play a similar role to what they do currently it the latest flavor of Microsoft’s operating system, including automatic refreshes to display information from within each app, like weather and playback information.

The Search option is also incorporated in the returning Start Menu, and this should please a lot of users, allowing them to quickly locate their apps and programs right from their desktop.

All in all, one of the most important features of Windows 10, maybe even the most important one.
